Sustainable Travel

We have implemented a number of initiatives to make sure our business observes sustainable travel guidelines.

Please help us by doing the following:

Reducing water wastage

Please do not waste the natural spring water which comes from our taps. The water boiler in the cabin has a limited supply of hot water, so it is only possible to take quick showers - we recommend using the sauna for a traditional bathing experience :)

Conserving heat

The thermostats in the cabins are set at 22°C. Please do not change them or heat the cabin up so much that you need to open the windows to cool it down.

Protecting the environment

Please respect nature and do not damage our fragile natural environment. Please do not drop litter, so follow the carry-in-carry-out rule: if you carry things into the forest with you, you should be able to carry them back too! Please stick to the marked routes, using the map provided on site or by clicking on the linked map below.

Saving electricity

Please use the front door responsibly: opening and closing it as quickly as possible, and going in and out without leaving the door wide open behind you, makes sure the cabin’s heat doesn’t escape. It takes a lot of electricity to heat it up again!

Recycling and waste disposal

Please sort your rubbish into the correct recycling bins located in the car park and please pick up any rubbish dropped accidentaly in the garden or forest.

Avoiding food wastage

Please do not waste food: when you check out you can leave unwanted, unopened, or uneaten food in the cabin if you can't take it with you. We will check if it is safe to eat, or give it to our dogs if it's unsuitable for humans but suitable for them. However, please do not give food to our dogs yourselves without checking with us first!

We have committed to work towards more sustainable tourism in Finland by agreeing to the following 10 principles: 1. We cooperate fairly We develop tourism in cooperation with other operators in our region and industry. Together we can better influence the future of society and tourism. We want our area to be good to live in and to visit, now and in the future, so we make decisions that are sustainable for future generations as well. We treat everyone with respect and fairness, and we only do fair and honest business. 2. We take care of nature We protect the environment, landscapes and natural diversity of our region. Our operations do not exceed nature's carrying capacity, but contribute to securing the opportunities for a good life and the preservation of a clean operating environment in our area. We also take good care of our dogs and their well-being, and ensure that they get dignified treatment. 3. We respect cultural heritage We cherish the cultural heritage of our region. Our goal is the authentic and respectful presentation, revitalization, maintenance and strengthening of culture. We also understand that cultures have always developed through interaction and by learning from each other. 4. We promote human well-being, human rights and equality We treat our employees, guests and residents of our area with equality and respect, regardless of their background. We take people's special needs into account in our operations. We train, guide and encourage our personnel to act responsibly. 5. We prefer local We support the products, services and companies of our region, and our goal is to employ local people in addition to those from our global community. We prefer food made from Finnish ingredients. We involve residents and companies in matters that concern them. 6. We invest in safety and quality We take care of the safety of our guests, our staff and our local residents, as well as compliance with the law and the regulations of the authorities. When we develop our services and products with quality first, we create the conditions for the continuity of our own operations. 7. We take climate effects into account We make good choices for the climate and reduce our carbon footprint. We monitor the load caused by tourism on the environment and with active measurement we aim for more efficient use of energy and resources. 8. We communicate openly We talk openly about responsible acts of tourism and our future plans and visions. We want Finland's sustainable tourism to be known around the world. We openly talk about successes, but also about challenges. 9. We are constantly developing our business operations We are ready to renew and update our services and products so that there will be enough demand for them in the future as well. A stable economy and ethical business create the basis for the sustainable development of operations. 10. We commit to the principles of sustainable tourism We take an active role in promoting sustainable tourism and implementing these sustainable tourism principles. We are making a sustainable tourism action plan, according to which we will act more and more systematically in the future. We are committed to taking action and want to learn more in the future as well.
